better together giving Tuesday header

The 2023 Holiday season is upon us. It’s time to get cozy next to the fire and enjoy the season of giving, savory food, and time with family and friends. Before jumping straight into Thanksgiving and all that it brings, we wanted to announce our Giving Tuesday initiative with Utah Dine Bikeyah. Last year, we were able to provide a generous cash donation, seeds, new products, and a gift certificate to shop for their needs throughout the growing season with True Leaf Market. We are excited to continue this partnership for our 2023 Giving Tuesday initiative by continuing to aid in their growing and community efforts.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.” It takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. We encourage you to take part in #givingtuesday initiatives wherever you can. Support your favorite businesses, lend someone a helping hand, or create your own Giving Tuesday project. We invite you to join us as we strive to help our partners, Utah Dine Bikeyah, reach their 2024 goals.

Participate in True Leaf Market’s Giving Tuesday Initiative

To help Utah Dine Bikeyah reach its goals, True Leaf Market is donating a large assortment of seeds and a portion of gift guide purchases made between November 21st - 28th to Utah Dine Bikeyah.

Use the code TLMGIFTS15 for 15% off of Gift Guide Items ONLY including an assortment of seed products, sprouting and microgreen supplies, garden-themed games, and more!

Who is Utah Dine Bikeyah?

Utah Diné Bikéyah, pronounced di-NAY bi-KAY-yuh, can literally be translated from the Navajo language to “the people’s sacred lands”. UDB, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to healing of people and the Earth through supporting Indigenous communities and protecting their culturally significant, ancestral lands.

Utah Dine Bikeyah and Bears Ears National Monument

One of the things we love about the Utah Dine Bikeyah organization is how they take action. They work in coordination with the U.S. Forest Service and Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition to allow for recreational use of this historic land, while preserving and protecting access for its cultural use and significance to the surrounding tribes. We encourage all to learn more about this beautiful monument and why it is so important, while continuing to do so respectfully. When visiting the Bears Ears National Monument we encourage you to familiarize yourself with what is and is not permitted during your visit. Check out these frequently asked questions relating to Bears Ears National Monument.

November - Native American Heritage Month

In coordination with our Giving Tuesday initiative we also want to give a shout out to November being Native American Heritage Month. When it comes to understanding and appreciating the land we grow on, there are few groups of people who cherrish and respect it as much as indigenous people. For centuries they have studied its terrain, cultivated crops, and live sustainably. They have also contributed to many staple crops that have sustained people around the globe. These include corn, beans, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and cacao. As a celebration of their culture and history we have created the Three Sisters Seed Assortment, a combination of corn, beans, and squash seeds that celebrate the connection we as people have to the earth. We hope that as you learn about the three sisters growing method and see it for yourself that you can grow in appreciation for the many ways we can relate to and rely on the plants we grow.
