55 days. Rhubarb Swiss Chard leaves are a beautiful variety and excellent in the kitchen as well. Recommended by USU. This plant produces dark reddish-green, heavily crumpled leaves, beautiful crimson stalks and veins. Their veins are thinner than those of many other varieties, providing large leaves with beautiful slender crimson veins. This variety does well in zones six or higher. Stalks are ready to be harvested after only 55 days, and can be harvested continually if the plant is allowed to continue production.

Growing Directions:
Rhubarb Swiss Chard vegetable seeds are a large leaf variety that need plenty of space to thrive. Sow seeds with 18-24" between rows, and at least 18" between plants. They should be transplanted to an area with full sun just before the final frost of the season. Sow each seed around ¼" deep in rich, moist soil. The soil should have a pH between 6 and 6.4. To achieve the best moisture and pH of soil, it is a good idea to add compost and sand into the soil. This will keep it light and fluffy so that the roots can grow, but will provide the proper nutrients for the plants. Throughout growth, keep the plants consistently watered. The plants will grow upright, and will be ready for harvest after around 60 days. When harvesting the leaves, be sure to keep both the base and the roots of the plant intact, that way they can continue to grow all summer season prolifically.
