Hidcote Blue Lavender Seeds. Non-GMO. Matures in the 2nd year. Lavandula angustifolia. Perennial in Zones 4 - 10. This lavender is one of the most fragrant of all lavenders and is can be used for culinary applications. This semi woody plant can grow up to 2 feet and likes full exposure of the sun with minimal water needs. The plant has silvery leaves with colorful violet-blue flowers that bloom in late spring or early summer. The scent of the flowers attract many insects such as bees and butterflies. When dried, this flower keeps its elegant colors that can be used for perfumes or for its fragment aroma. About 26,300 Seeds per ounce.
It is very common for lavender seeds to have low germination in general. Since lavender is a perennial plant, its energy is put into keeping itself and its root structure alive; unlike annuals that are primed for seed production perennials are not. So, their germination rate tends to be lower.
