Non-GMO (Foeniculum vulgare var. azuricum) Florence Fennel plants grow as cool bulbing heirloom fennel. As technically a vegetable that can be grown as perennials, this stocky annual variety grows upright with green shoots reaching 2-3" tall. Once your fennel reaches maturity in either late spring or summer, your plants will develop its white bulb near the base. Florence Fennel provides licorice flavor and produces light-green fern-like foliage on top of its stalks. This vegetable fennel can also be planted in mild climates during late summer to mature in the fall.
