The Korean Cuisine Garden assortment features 7 of the most popular fruit and vegetable seeds grown for traditional Korean kitchens. Our specialty Korean seeds assortment features shiso seeds, cabbage seeds, sesame seeds, Chinese mustard seeds, Korean radish seeds, and two varieties of Korean pepper seeds.
While the Korean peninsula is home to humid, wet, and hot summers, its winters can be especially cold and dry, ideal for each of the varieties in the Korean Cuisine Garden assortment.
Perennial herbs such as Korean perilla, Chinese mustard, Korean radish, and Chinese cabbage can be grown as warm-season annuals or can be overwintered outdoors for perennial harvesting.
Korean Vegetable Seeds
The Korean Cuisine Garden features traditional Korean red peppers for making red chili paste (gochujang) and a Korean cabbage used for making kimchi. Korean perilla and sesame are commonly used in Korean cooking. Jeok Gat is a spicy mustard and Alpine Gold is a crisp Korean radish for pickling.
Korean Perilla Seeds
Perilla frutescens
Korean Perilla, also known as shiso or deulkkae, is a perennial member of the mint family Lamiaceae similar in size, flavor, and tolerance to peppermint. However, unlike culinary mint, Korean perilla leaves grow much larger and are traditionally used for wraps as well as pickling. While many shiso varieties have adapted to cooler climates, Korean perilla still prefers warm, humid gardens similar to those of the Korean peninsula.
