It is a hardy crop that can be grown in climate zones three through twelve. The plant produces heads that are approximately five to seven inches in diameter, enveloped in crinkled outer leaves. The heads can be harvested after about ninety days. They have a sweet and delicate flavor, and make an excellent addition to many dishes.
