Sowing and Growing

Parsley has a very long germination period, taking up to 1 month. To shorten the wait, stratify seeds for at least a week and soak for 12-24 hours before sowing. Grow parsley seeds in clumps, under a strong light source and leave plenty of time—about 10 weeks to transplant ready plants. When the weather has fully warmed, plant parsley in full sun and water regularly.

Once parsley is well established, you can begin harvesting outer leaves. Fresh use is best, but it can also be dried. For best color and flavor, chop parsley leaves finely, dry in a single layer on waxed paper and replace every year. Freezing also works well. You can place parsley in water and keep in your fridge or even keep it throughout the winter by placing a small pot on your windowsill.
