Sowing and Growing
Calendula seeds have a wildflower-like hardiness and can be started inside or sown directly in the garden. Thin plants 10-12” apart. Germination time is about 15 days. Keep moderately watered and cut blossoms often or remove spent flowers to prevent seed heads from forming.
Harvesting
Cut the blossoms when they are just fully open but before they begin to set seed. Remove the petals from the disk to use fresh or spread on wax paper to dry. Store dried petals in a jar in a cool and dark space.
