Nature has been depicted in artistic creations since people began drawing. It is natural to replicate the life around us through many artistic mediums. To create a unique twist on this idea try creating your own paintbrushes. Nature creates so many unique patterns and textures that can be used to form a unique image.
To Start:
- Take clippings of any flowers or leaves you would like to use
- Collect some good branches or twigs to use as the brush handles
- Secure the branches and plant material with string, rubber bands, twine, etc.
After you have your plant material secured you are good to start painting. Don’t worry if you have pieces of flowers or leaves sticking to your artwork. This is very likely and will only add character to your creation.
Because plants don’t work exactly like a regular paint brush would, you might need to thin your paint down. Test your new brush out first and adjust the paint as needed. To give you even more variety to your artwork, create more brushes out of natural materials like feathers, cloth, rocks, etc.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, this activity is perfect for the young, and the young at heart. Don’t forget to share your creations with your friends and family. I am sure they would love to see what you create. We would love to see you post your work on social media with the tag #trueleafmarket.
