Thank you for your participation in our hurricane relief project throughout October! We wanted to share the impact your participation will have on those affected by Hurricane Helene and Milton. When selecting who to send your contributions to, we chose organizations involved in immediate and long-term relief. These include the Mountainside Homestead, Wine to Water, and the Humane Society Hurricane Helene Pet Relief Fund. We especially wanted to share the amazing work Ken and Amy are doing at the Mountainside Homestead to offer refuge, food, and support to their local community and the first responders aiding in restoring the rebuilding of their town over the coming months.
Mountainside Homestead with Ken and Amy
Ken and Amy of Mountainside Homestead are based out of Hot Springs, North Carolina, a small community that was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. We were inspired by the work they are doing to band together as a community to provide a local source of food due to the devastation of the supply chain and utilities in their area. Ken and Amy built their first chicken coop in 2019 but have since expanded to a small farm with several animals and a garden that will provide much-needed aid to their community amidst the recovery and rebuilding efforts.

With the donation of a greenhouse and trays from other sources, True Leaf Market has decided to donate a large amount of seeds to help Mountainside Homestead with their goal of contributing food donations to the community throughout the upcoming spring and summer months. To help them get a jump start on food production, we have also sent a donation of microgreen growing kits to hand out, which will provide greens after about a week.
We understand that emergency events such as this can leave farms and homesteads needing to replace equipment and materials at unexpected times throughout the recovery process. To aid in these unexpected events, we have also donated a large gift card to purchase other needs from trueleafmarket.com over the coming months. Ken and Amy are such an inspiration and example of how choosing to serve others can make an ever-growing impact for good. To follow their recovery efforts, we encourage you to follow their social media channels for new updates.

Wine to Water
A portion of the 10% of Emergency Storage sales collected from October 3 - October 31, 2024 for Hurricane Helene relief efforts have been allocated to the Wine to Water organization. Wine to Water is a worldwide organization that aids countries, schools, and areas in need of disaster response. Our donation was specifically directed to their Hurricane Helene response.
Humane Society Hurricane Helene Pet Relief Fund
A portion of the 10% of Emergency Storage sales collected from October 3 - October 31, 2024 for Hurricane Helene relief efforts have been allocated to the Humane Society Hurricane Pet Relief Fund. Pets are an important part of our True Leaf Market family, and we hope this donation helps those in need of pet-related aid.
