Container gardens are vulnerable to overheating, here are some quick tips to help keep your containers cool and healthy:
- Lightly mulch.
- If you can, try to position the containers out of the hot western sun.
- If the container plants dry out to the point where re-wetting is not working, try soaking them in a bucket of water for half an hour, then drain the excess water.
- Container saucers full of water can create root rot and mosquito breeding. Instead, try to stand them in the saucers filled with sand, and keep the sand moist to ensures the roots stay cool and plants remain healthy.
