Also known as the Castor Oil Plant, Ricinus is a flowering plant native to the Mediterranean Basin and Eastern Africa and India. Long considered an ornamental shrub, Ricinus' leaves and stems are glossy and at times, a dark red or copper-like hue. In most cases the color of the plant's foliage will grow more red as it matures.
This ornamental plant grows
rapidly into a beautiful shrub with enormous, lush, tropical, green leaves. Caution,
seeds and pods are highly poisonous.
