50-65 days. Non-GMO. Open-pollinated. Sumter Cucumber Seeds from True Leaf Market grow firm, 5" to 6" medium-green cucumbers with white spines. Sumter is a mildew- and scab-resistant cucumber variety that is easy to grow in the home garden. It's a good idea to use a trellis system for growing cucumbers, as it will train the vines to grow vertically, saving valuable garden space. A trellis or cage will also keep the fruit off the ground and encourage good airflow for healthy plants and fruit. These heirloom cucumber seeds come from Mountain Valley Seed Co., which is a small, family-owned seed company known for supplying premium-quality seeds to both home growers and fresh market producers. ~950 seeds per ounce.
Mildew- and scab-resistant Sumter cucumber plants produce straight, medium-green fruits with a white spine. When fully mature after 50 to 65 days, they measure about 5" to 6" long.
Heirloom, non-GMO Sumter cucumber plants grow best in well-draining, nitrogen-rich soil.
Sumter heirloom cucumber seeds can be directly sown into the garden once the soil has reached at least 65 degrees F. For an earlier harvest, Sumter cucumber seeds can be started indoors 3 to 4 weeks before you are planning to transplant them.
A trellis system is often a good idea for cucumbers, as it will help ensure proper airflow, keep the fruit off the ground, and save space by training the vines to grow vertically.
