Bean Seeds - Shell - Shirohana Mame. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Phaseolus vulgaris. Also known as Flower bean, ingenmame. 80-95 days. Warm season annual. This rare "flower bean" has snow-white flowers and pure white beans that distinguish it from similar varieties. Grown as a pole bean, this variety produces pods up to 8" long and 1" beans. Approx 100 seeds / oz.
Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in late spring/early summer after last frost in a sunny location. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Train to climb a vertical support. Harvest at 8-10" long when beans start to bulge in the pods and are about 1" in size. Can also be harvested for dry beans. Soak dry beans before boiling. When cooked, rinse and add sugar and salt.
