As basil has many different types, Lime Basil is a sweet cultivar that grows round bright-green leaves with pointed tips. This smaller basil with hints of citrus and savory notes came from the tropical regions of Africa and South Asia and was later cultivated in the U.S. during the 18th century. Lime Basil varieties are also referred to as or Hairy Basil, due to their fuzzy stems. This sweet type of basil that provides a more sharp scent and lemon flavor, has been used in Africa as ancient medicine. With high contents of citrus oil and rich antioxidants, Lime Basil is a fresh and bold basil crop to add to your herb garden!
Non-GMO Lime Basil (Ocimum basilicum) plants grow 18-24" tall as compact bushes.
