Prepare your garden bed by amending it with fertilizer or compost, if necessary. Soft white wheat is planted in the fall, as it is a winter wheat. Broadcast the soft white wheat berries over the bed and cover them with about 2 inches of soil. Soft white wheat, like other varieties of wheat, tolerates drought quite well and should only be watered 2-3 times throughout the season.
Soft white wheat has a more delicate gluten makeup than red wheat, this makes it more suitable for a multitude of baking purposes. Many pastries, baked goods, bread, and snack foods are made from soft white wheat. It can also be sprouted and fermented to create rejuvelac. Rejuvelac contains beneficial bacteria to support a healthy digestive tract.
